Notifications overlay

Jiří Činčura-2
Hi *,

the "Please allow us to send notifications about Firebird-related news!"
notification overlay is pretty annoying. Not mentioning the popup from
browser itself. Very bad UX. Ask once, never again.

Hi Jiri!

I've tuned it to be more silent, but behaviour is different in different
browsers.
Also it should appear now only after 30 seconds.

What browser do you use?

Regards,
Alexey

Interesting to note: the overlay was present earlier on Firefox, but
isn't now, but it is still there on Chrome.

To be honest, I think it is still aggressive and intrusive; I don't like
it (and yes, I do know I can suppress it by simply blocking / never allow).

Re: Notifications overlay

Hi Mark,

I'll try to tune it more during the next week.
It gives ~250 subscribers per day, it is a good marketing channel,
theoretically with better opening rate than email.

Regards,
Alexey

As annoying as it can be, I think we need such things to create a huge
subscribers database.
